Sports Dietitian

“As a healthcare provider with a strong interest in sports nutrition but no formal education in that area, this symposium was exactly what I needed! It gave me interesting and actionable information while also helping to connect me with experts in the field. I will continue to attend these virtual events!”

Sports Dietitian

“Eat2Win’s Sports Nutrition Symposium was a fantastic event. The 9 speakers gave us information that was unique, but overlapped. It was a great learning experience that will help many athletic trainers regardless of the setting. The topics range from sleep, to supplements to specific micronutrients. Some of the information was a great refresher, while giving me a different perspective on each topic that will help me and my athletes.”

Sports Dietitian

“The Sports Nutrition Symposium 1.0 was a great tool to learn! As a new dietitian, I like to take all of the opportunities that I can to learn and grow as an RD. I'm looking forward to the next symposium.”

Sports Nutrition Symposium 1.0

 9 Speakers over 5 Days

January 18th-22nd @ 12pm or 7pm CST

Our second online Sports Nutrition Symposium is designed to expand the knowledge base of Sports Nutrition and advance it through cutting edge topics presented by some of the best presenters in the discipline of Sports Nutrition.
Our goal is to bridge the gap between science and practice with an evidence based approach.

Becoming Confident and Competent in Sports Nutrition
Tavis Piattoly, MS, RD, LDN
Monday June 15th, 12pm CST
I will develop a basic understanding of the history of professions working in Sports Nutrition. In addition we will explore strategies on how to learn and apply your knowledge in Sports Nutrition as you work to become more confident and competent.

Fluid and Electrolyte Replacement for Athletic Performance
Khalil Lee, PhD, CSCS
Tuesday June 16th, 12pm CST
Proper hydration habits not only help an athlete stay safe when competing in heat and humidity, but can also promote top performance.  Since fluid and electrolyte losses are highly individual, a personalized hydration plan can help an athlete ensure they are meeting their needs.  I will provide an overview of the science behind hydration, and translate the science into practice with an emphasis on personalization.

Vitamin D and Human Performance
Brad Dieter, PhD
Tuesday June 16th, 7pm CST
Vitamin D has been thoroughly investigated as an ergogenic aid, and after several decades of research we now have clarity on exactly how and to what extent vitamin D works in athletes.

SLEEP AND SPORTS
Meeta Singh, MD
Wednesday June 17th, 12pm CST
You will learn the essential facts about sleep and its impact on athletic performance. We will explore what is sleep and circadian rhythms and why sleep is essential for athletic performance.

Metabolic Efficiency Training for Athletes
Bob Seebohar, MS, RD, CSSD, CSCS, METS II
Wednesday June 17th, 7pm CST
I will provide the rationale of utilizing the Metabolic Efficiency Training concept in a well structured Nutrition Periodization plan to support optimal health and physical performance.

Heat Mitigation Strategies:
Hydration and Sweat Electrolyte Concentration
Courteney Benjamin, PhD., CSCS
Thursday June 18th, 12pm CST
Heat mitigation strategies, including cooling and heat acclimation, impact fluid balance and electrolyte concentration. Practitioners will gain an understanding of these mechanisms to enhance their work with athletes to optimize performance.

Supplements vs Foods
Kamal Patel, MPH, MBA
Thursday June 18th, 7pm CST
Most people take at least one supplement. But not everybody considers the instances where supplements have benefits or detriments compared to food.

Nutrigenomics in Exercise & Sport
Nanci Guest PhD, RD, CSCS
Friday June 19th, 12pm CST
As the demand for genetic testing by sport professionals and athletes grows, there is an increased responsibility for sport dietitians/nutritionists and other healthcare professionals working with athletes to understand the current evidence in this growing field. This session will bridge the translation of science to practice, to include an overview of how genetic testing is performed, what it measures, and how practitioners can effectively interpret the results of these tests, while also considering the limitations.

The Omega 3 Blood Test: Implications for Health and Performance
Doug Bibus, PhD
Monday June 15th, 7pm CST
I will explore basic background information on omega 3 fatty acids and omega 3 blood testing. Omega 3 blood levels are a window into tissue omega 3 status and an indicator of well being.

Sports Dietitian

“The 2020 Sports Nutrition Symposium was so well put together and had some really great topics and speakers! Very relevant to the world of sports nutrition right now. It was also great to see a ton of other professions other than Dietitians attending and asking questions! There was so much good material shared this week, and I learned a good amount of new information.

This symposium is such a great option for dietitians looking to get more into sports nutrition and learning more about current relevant topics. It’s also great for other health care professionals just looking to expand their knowledge in nutrition. There was such a large variety of topics that there was really something for everyone. I am a dietitian just getting into sports nutrition and Tavis Piatoly gave some great information and advice to take with me moving forward in my career! I will definitely be attending the next one symposium! ”

Sports Dietitian

“The Sports Nutrition Symposium provided excellent information from reputable presenters on unique topics and insights into new research geared toward optimization of performance and fueling strategies. This was a valuable resource for professionals and students involved in sports medicine beyond just Dietitians, like physicians and athletic trainers, as well as, scientists participating in research for performance and nutrition.

I found the information to be applicable to the populations we work with and greatly expanded on relevant topics in sports nutrition. For example, increasing my understanding of applying nutrition periodization strategies and recommendations for enhancing sleep quality for improved athletic performance. I highly recommend signing up for the webinars provided by mysportsd.com and I look forward to the next symposium”
